Project Overview
Anusandhitsa is a yearly university magazine, conceived as a platform for academic inquiry and research-driven thought. The name Anusandhitsa translates to “the willingness or desire to research,” forming the conceptual foundation of the project. The scope involved designing the logo for the magazine and developing the editorial layout for its first printed edition.
Design Intent
The visual language was developed to feel intellectual, and timeless, reflecting the seriousness, curiosity, and discipline inherent in academic research. Instead of relying on decorative or trend-driven elements, the design prioritises clarity, structure, and conceptual meaning, allowing the content to take precedence. A minimal and balanced approach ensures that it remains relevant across editions, supporting its evolution over time while maintaining a strong, consistent identity rooted in purpose and inquiry.
Logo Concept
The logo is derived from the Hindi alphabet “अ”, interpreted through Devanagari visual structure. As the first letter of Anusandhitsa, it symbolises beginnings, intent, and the origin of inquiry.
The form bridges classical Indian knowledge systems and contemporary academic thought, reflecting the magazine’s purpose.
The word Anusandhitsa is positioned beneath the symbol to anchor the identity linguistically and conceptually.
Executed strictly in black and white, the logo relies on form, balance, and contrast, ensuring timelessness, clarity, and adaptability across print applications.
Editorial Layout Approach
The editorial system was developed for the inaugural print issue, with emphasis on, Strong typographic hierarchy for research-led content. Clean grid structures to support varied article formats. Generous white space for improved readability. A neutral aesthetic that complements academic writing. Mockups illustrate how the identity extends across covers and internal spreads.
